For many years, my husband has been a staffman for the summers at Keewaydin camp on Lake Temagami in Ontario. Nowadays he still works up there each summer, working in various capacities. In this amazing camp, adult staffers take teenagers out for long wilderness canoe trips, working up to a culminating 7 week trip to Hudson Bay for the oldest campers, boys and girls. These art works were inspired by my visits to Devil’s Island and the Ojibway lodge at the adult end of the island. For several years, I would practice Iaijutsu, Japanese sword, on the docks. The works with ink were developed after my trip to Japan in 2015. I am also fascinated by the Canadian artists in the Group of Seven as well as Emily Carr.
